Can Electric Vehicles Become the Next Sacred Mountain?

“Net zero carbon emissions” has become a common goal pursued by the world. In order to reduce carbon emissions, many countries have clearly stipulated the sunset years of fuel vehicles. Therefore, electric vehicles have not only become a new blue ocean for digital transformation of automobiles, but also an industry that will become a market that countries compete to seize. In this century-long battle of electric vehicles, Taiwan has several favorable conditions for developing the electric vehicle industry, but also faces some difficulties. What are Taiwan’s advantages? What are the breakthroughs that must be made? How can we respond to trends, play to our strengths, and turn electric vehicles into Taiwan’s next “national treasure”? The Fair Winds Foundation has specially invited Dr. Du Zijun, former Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan, to give a lecture on this topic. Dr. Du has long served in the field of economic and industrial development, and has served as Director-General of the Industrial Bureau, Minister of Economic Affairs, and Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan. After retiring from public office, he served as the Chief Advisor of the General Chamber of Commerce and Vehicle Industry Association, and the Policy Advisor of the Electrical and Electronic Industry Association, continuing to assist Taiwan’s industrial upgrading and expansion of international markets.
